Playdates with Friends heads to cinemas in the UK, Ireland and Europe
Bluey fans can catch some of their favourite episodes in a brand-new Bluey Collection called Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection, which is set to hit the big screen across the UK, Ireland and key European markets this year.
The release marks a continued collaboration between BBC Studios, Vue Lumière and Piece of Magic Entertainment. Vue Lumière will release the collection theatrically in the UK and Ireland on March 27th, while Piece of Magic Entertainment will roll it out across Spain, Poland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg from March 26.
Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection is an hour-long cinema experience featuring eight episodes from across the hit TV show’s three series, all celebrating play, friendship and family. The compilation brings together some of Bluey’s most beloved games, including Shadowlands and Octopus, while spotlighting special moments of friendship in episodes such as Circus and Slide, and delivering plenty of joy, laughter and big-screen fun for audiences of all ages.
Curated by BBC Studios and Ludo Studio, Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection builds on the success of the franchise’s previous theatrical outings, Bluey at the Cinema: Family Trip Collection (August 2024) and Bluey at the Cinema: Let’s Play Chef Collection (May 2025) achieved more than 1 million admissions collectively across EMEA, underlining the brand’s continued appeal as a premium family cinema content.
Dwayne Clarke, Head of Marketing for Bluey - UK & EMEA: “Bluey at the Cinema has become a really special way for families to come together and experience the show in a shared, joyful setting. Playdates with Friends builds on that connection, bringing the warmth, humour and spirit of play that fans love about Bluey onto the big screen. We’re incredibly grateful to the BBC Studios Kids & Family team, alongside Joe Brumm and Ludo Studio, whose creativity and care continue to shape the world of Bluey, and proud to work with our partners to extend that experience for audiences across the UK, Ireland and Europe.”
Johnny Carr, Head of Event Cinema and Distribution at Vue Lumière, said: “Bluey has become a true event for family audiences, and we’re delighted to be continuing our collaboration with BBC Studios and Piece of Magic on this new collection.
